Here’s a selection of craft coffee shops that excel in a good cup of joe AND branding. I’m always looking for something beyond what tastes good or what looks good. A true hipster (Do millennials still use that word?) appreciates both. In no particular order (I think!) except that these are all places I’ve personally visited.

The Childz Coffee featuring everyone’s favorite Grogu. Based off of Philz Coffee from the Bay Area. What made me think this would be a great coffee collaboration is that Philz Coffee tends to have very earthy and nature-like tones to their brand.

I was digging through some old files and found my All-Star Chef Classic concept that was killed ultimately by the marketing team.

Bright suns! Black Spire Coffee Roasters is your very own local coffee shop at Black Spire outpost in Batuu. We will provide you with fuel for your soul, oil for your droid, or hyperspace coil oils for your ship. We accept all—Jedi, Smugglers, Bounty Hunters, Droids, Princesses, Farm Hands—but have the right to refuse service to all too.

12 Parsecs is another Smuggler Roaster—this one coming straight to you from the Kessel Run. Fuel up on coffee and on energy before attempting to beat Han Solo’s 12 Parsec record. This one was also fun because it involved a lot of illustrations.

Handsome Coffee Roasters was bought by Blue Bottle in 2014, but I still felt like this was an appropriate coffee brand for the Galaxy’s favorite handsome smuggler. I enjoyed this coffee brand because it forced me to stretch my illustration skills more.

Everyone knows Starbucks so it needs no introduction. The infamous siren is now Queen Amidala and Starbucks becomes Skybucks (after the Skywalker family).

Next up, Chicago original, craft coffee starter—Intelligentsia—becomes Imperigentsia. Dark roasted coffee just the way Vader liked it.

Oakland coffee roaster Blue Bottle Coffee kicks off my Star Wars coffee label series. It wouldn’t be right if it wasn’t R2-D2. I created a silhouette in the same jagged way the blue bottle logo was created and added the white space notch to his head (like the bottle cap).
